Application Procedures
New and Renewing Notary Packages Renewing Notary Packages do not come with a notary journal
Our New and Renewal Notary Packages include your required $10,000 Nevada Notary Bond. The State of Nevada requires purchasing your notary bond, which you will need to send along with your notary application. The price for this notary bond is the same if purchased with one of our packages or purchased separately.
Step 1: Order your official $10,000 Surety Bond from The Notary's Store
Each applicant for the office of notary public for the State of Nevada is required to purchase a 4-year $10,000 Nevada notary bond. Please visit The Notary's Store you will be entering the Nevada section for your official surety bond. We offer a New Notary Supply Package and a Renewing Notary Supply Package which include your required $10,000 Nevada Notary Bond, Nevada Notary Seal/Stamp and Nevada Notary Journal and other needed notary supplies at a special reduced price. To order, enter all required information and scroll down through the page to locate the notary packages, or you can purchase your notary supplies separately. Follow the onscreen instructions through checkout and your supplies will be sent to you as soon as your order is processed, and will ship usually in no more than 1 business day after processing. Once you have your official bond and have make a copy of the actual bond for your records you may proceed with step 2.
Step 2: File your Bond and take your Oath of Office with the County Clerk
When you receive your $10,000 surety bond from The Notary's Store you will need to take it to the office of the County Clerk of court in the county in which you reside, or the county in which you are employed if an out of state applicant. The Clerk will administer the oath, file your bond and provide you with a "filing notice". There is a fee for the filing of the bond and this fee varies between counties. Make sure to call ahead and determine what the fee will be.
Step 3: Download and complete the Nevada Notary Public Application

Download the application and complete it according to the instructions provided. When you have completed the application check it over for accuracy, as any errors or omissions in the application can result in a delay in processing or an outright rejection of the application. When you are confident the application is complete and correct mail it, the "filing notice" you received from the Clerk of Court and a check in the amount of $35.00 made payable to the "Secretary of State" to the following address:
NOTE: A nonresident applicant must also include the "Non-resident Notary Public Affidavit" and the "Affidavit of Applicant's Employer." If you are self-employed, you will need to complete the "Affidavit of Self-Employer Applicant".
To obtain the affidavits, call the "Document-On-Demand" service at 800-583-9486 and have them fax to you by selecting document number 0063.

Upon being satisfied of the competency and good character of applicants for appointment as notaries public, the Secretary of State shall issue a certificate of appointment that will be sent to the applicant's mailing address.
Step 4: Order the remainder of your supplies from The Notary's Store
Please revisit The Notary's Store, you will be entering the Nevada section for your official notary supplies. To order, enter the required information and scroll down through the page to locate any other products you desire, and follow the instructions through checkout. Once you have your official seal and journal you are ready to perform notarial acts.
Note: An Errors and Omissions Insurance Policy does not replace a bond, but will help to repay the bonding company if a claim is ever made. Errors and Omissions is not required by law, but may be purchased as it protects the notary public and pays for any charges the notary might owe for legal fees and costs should the notary be sued.
