Application Procedures

Step 1: Download the Idaho Notary Public Checklist and complete the included Application

The Idaho Notary Public Checklist and Application is available for download here: Idaho Notary Public Checklist

The Idaho Notary Public Application is located in the handbook. You may print the application and complete it or you can fill it out online and then print.

You will need to make arrangements to have a notary public take your acknowledgment under oath or affirmation that the information provided in the application is true. Your signature in the Oath portion of the Application needs to be notarized. The Find a Notary feature from Notary Rotary, Inc., can be helpful in locating a notary in your area to help process your application.

New and Renewing Notary Packages
New and Renewing Notary Packages
Renewing Notary Packages do not come with a notary journal

Our New and Renewal Notary Packages DO NOT include your required $10,000 Idaho Notary Bond. The State of Idaho requires purchasing your notary bond, which you will need to send along with your notary application.

Prior to submitting your application, you will need to order an official seal stamp and $10,000 surety bond. You may easily order these Notary Supplies from the online store at Notary Rotary.

Once you enter the store, fill in the required fields with the "official name" you plan to use as a notary and your expected "commission expiration date" and select your products. You will need the $10,000 surety bond and the official seal stamp to complete the application process.

Step 2: Order other needed supplies from The Notary's Store

To order other items needed to become an Idaho notary public please use the following link to access the online store at The Notary's Store. Once you enter the store, fill in the required fields with your information such as "official name" and "commission expiration date" and select your products. You will be entering the Idaho section for your official notary supplies. We offer a New Notary Supply Package and a Renewing Notary Supply Package which include your required Idaho Notary Seal/Stamp and officially recommended Idaho Notary Journal, and other needed notary supplies at a special reduced price. To order, enter the required information and scroll down through the page to locate the notary packages, or purchase your Idaho notary seal/stamp separately, and follow the instructions through checkout. Once you receive your supplies you will be able to complete the application. You will need to stamp your official seal on the application where indicated. Be sure to make a copy of the actual bond for your records.

Note: An Errors and Omissions Insurance Policy does not replace a bond, but will help to repay the bonding company if a claim is ever made. Errors and Omissions is not required by law, but may be purchased as it protects the notary public and pays for any charges the notary might owe for legal fees and costs should the notary be sued.

Step 3: Prepare and send application items to the Secretary of State

Gather the following items and prepare to send them to the Office of the Secretary of State:

  • Your $10,000 notary bond with your signature
  • A $30.00 filing fee
  • The completed notary public application. Don't forget you need to stamp your official seal on the application where indicated.
Review each item and determine that it is accurate and complete and submit the completed application, signed bond and $30.00 filing fee to the address listed below.

PO Box 83720
