Application Procedures New and Renewing Notary Packages Renewing Notary Packages do not come with a notary journal Our New and Renewal Notary Packages DO NOT include your required $10,000 New Mexico Notary Bond which includes a voucher for a $5,000 notary errors and omissions insurance policy. The State of New Mexico requires purchasing your notary bond, which you will need to send along with your notary application. You may order your New Mexico surety bond from Notary Rotary, Inc. by clicking on the following link New Mexico surety bond Step 1: Order your Official Notary Supplies from The Notary's Store but you will need to order your notary bond separately. Please visit The Notary's Store you will be entering the New Mexico section for your official notary supplies. We offer a New Notary Supply Package and a Renewing Notary Supply Package which includes your New Mexico Notary Seal/Stamp, New Mexico Notary Journal,and other needed notary supplies at a special reduced price, but you will need to order your required $10,000 New Mexico Notary Bond separately. New Mexico law does not require a notary to keep a record of his/her official acts, but it is recommended to do so. A record book will offer an excellent way of recalling past notarial acts. If a notary is called upon to testify in court, a record book may help establish what actually took place. also available in the online store, was specifically designed for this purpose and contains many elements not available in other registers. Once you have your official bond you may proceed with step 2. Note: An Errors and Omissions Insurance Policy does not replace a bond, but will help to repay the bonding company if a claim is ever made. Errors and Omissions is not required by law, but may be purchased as it protects the notary public and pays for any charges the notary might owe for legal fees and costs should the notary be sued. Step 2: Download and complete the New Mexico Notary Public Application New Mexico Notary Public Application Download the application and complete it according to the instructions provided. When you have completed the application check it over for accuracy, as any errors or omissions in the application can result in a delay in processing or an outright rejection of the application. When you are confident the application is complete and correct mail it, your surety bond and a check or money or in the amount of $20.00 made payable to the "Secretary of State" to the following address: Secretary of State 325 Don Gaspar Suite 300 Santa Fe, NM 87503 If the application is accepted, the Governor will appoint you as a notary public for a period of four (4) years. You may not perform notarial acts until you receive your certificate of appointment from the office of the Secretary of State.
